SiteAudit's Three New Features: Mobile Support, Logins and Rules

Mobile Support

As the popularity of mobile devices such as iPhone, Android, WinMo, and iPad continues to grow, more and more companies are rolling out mini-sites designed to support these devices. The implementation and management of tags can be tricky on these sites, so we've enhanced SiteAudit to make tag management on mobile sites a bit easier.

Setting up an audit for mobile is a snap: simply set the starting page to the mobile portal (typically something like m.yoursite.com) and SiteAudit will audit only the mobile pages built for your selected device. If you need a walk - through, we're happy to help.

Logins

Does your site have content that can only be accessed after a user logs in or completes some type of form? While we've always been able to crawl post-login areas of a website, we've just made it easier by allowing you to simply record the login credential using our new and improved browser plugin, select the login from the audit setup screen, and the login will automatically be used to access your site's content.

In addition to login recording, you can monitor data collection on a series of pages (to ensure page uptime) or audit a process in association with a domain (to cause specific events to fire.)

Rules

Rules is a feature with a one-two punch; first is vendor validation and second is audit rules. Both are huge time-savers that can reveal implementation issues that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Vendor Validation

Every vendor's tag is capable of doing certain things and incapable of others. If a tag is malformed, the vendor's databases may not know how to treat the data, resulting in some wonky numbers, or worse, lost data! To avoid this potentially huge issue, SiteAudit now automatically runs every tag through a set of rules that determine whether something in the tag is likely to cause data collection problems.

Data collection problems can happen even when the tag is on the page. Now we'll highlight specific issues that could case your vendor to throw out data.

Audit Rules

SiteAudit now has a powerful engine to compare the collected data against a set of rules that you can add. For instance, if you have your implementation design document, you can enter details of your implementation design as a rule. When a tag is found to be out of compliance with the rule, SiteAudit alerts you.

Rules must be setup before an audit, and this is an advanced feature, so if you need some help getting started just have your account owner send us an email and we will be happy to set up a call or webinar for your group.
